Nobel Memorial Program 2020
주한스웨덴대사관은 2020년 12월 1일 온라인 심포지엄을 개최하여, 2020년 노벨상 각 분야별 수상 업적과 과학, 발견, 탐구의 업적을 축하하는 자리를 마련했습니다. 스웨덴과 대한민국의 저명한 대학 및 기관의 전문가가 모여 과학과 예술, 그리고 노벨상의 의미에 대해 논의하는 심포지엄에 함께 하실 수 있습니다.
The Embassy of Sweden in Seoul will celebrate science, discovery and curiosity at a one-day event on December 1st. Three symposia will be arranged devoted to this year’s Nobel Prizes. Distinguished partners at Universities and Institutions in Sweden and the Republic of Korea have come together to gather experts that will introduce and discuss the sciences, the art and the context of the Nobel awards.

We invite you to take part of online presentations in your favourite Nobel Prize category. You can propose your own questions that may be brought up to discussion. Join us in celebrating the winners and their achievements by registering to participate!

주한스웨덴 대사관은 노벨상에 대하여 대한민국 국민의 관심을 제고하고, 나아가 청중과 적극적으로 소통하고자 <스웨덴-대한민국 노벨 메모리얼 프로그램>을 기획하였습니다. 이번 행사가 고등교육, 과학기술 분야의 연구 개발, 기술 및 인문학에 대한 여러분의 관심과 흥미를 고취시킬 수 있는 기회가 되었으면 합니다.
본 심포지엄은 관련 업무 종사자나, 전문가 뿐 아니라 이해 관계자, 학생 등 주제에 관심있는 분이라면 누구나 참여 가능합니다.

A symposium on the awards in the Sciences present the 2020 Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry, and Physiology or Medicine.
우리 인류는 과학과 기술에 대한 기본원리를 이해하면서 세상을 살아가는 지혜를 배울 수 있습니다. 올해 수상한 ‘유전자 가위 기술과 생물학, 블랙홀, 바이러스 정복기’ 강연에 대해 궁금하신 분은 이번 심포지엄에 꼭 등록하시기 바랍니다.
Everybody can benefit from maintaining a basic understanding of developments in Science and Technology. Join us in listening to expert presentations about this year’s awards in works on gene editing and our biology, the reality of black holes and what’s possible in a universe, and breakthrough medical treatments for a global health problem.

A symposium on the 2020 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences.
우리는 일상에서 취미로든 또는 업무나 사업으로 하는 모든 활동은 경제활동의 일부입니다. 또한, 최근에는 이러한 활동이 온라인으로 진행되는 경우가 많습니다. 올해 노벨경제학상은 모바일 데이터와 관련 주파수 가격을 책정하는 새로운 경제이론의 창시자가 수상했습니다.
Whether it’s leisure and entertainment or work and business, it’s all part of the economy and it’s often online. This year’s award catches an important relation between conditions for mobile data and economy with methods to find a price for telecom radio waves.

A symposium on the 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature.
언어는 도구이며, 우리가 통제할 수 있는 가변의 성질을 띄고 있지만 어떠한 목적성을 띄고 있기도 합니다. 독자의 전문성을 떠나 우리 모두는 문학을 접하고, 인지하고, 이해하고, 미학적 즐거움을 얻고, 감동을 받기도 합니다. 본 행사를 통해 ‘시가 세계를 이해하는 데 어떻게 도움을 줄 수 있는가?’에 대하여 토론하는 시간을 갖고자 합니다.
Language is a tool, malleable in our control but demanding to achieve our purpose. Regardless of how advanced we are as readers, we expect recognition and understanding, we take pleasure in aesthetic qualities, and we are sometimes moved. Join a discussion on how poetry help us make sense of the world.

Background of the Nobel Prize 노벨상 배경
알프레드 노벨은 스웨덴의 화학자이자 엔지니어, 산업가였습니다. 1896년 사망 전 그는 재산을 헌납하고 인류에 가장 큰 공헌을 한 사람이나 단체에 매년 상을 수여하라는 유언장을 남겼습니다. 1901년 이후 5개 부문(문학, 화학, 물리학, 생리학 또는 의학, 평화)에 대해 노벨상이 제정됩니다. 이후 스웨덴 중앙은행은1969년부터 경제학상을 새롭게 추가하여 노벨상과 같은 원칙으로 시상하고 있습니다.

Alfred Nobel was a Swedish chemist, engineer and industrialist. Before his death in 1896, he had described in a will that there should be five prizes established from his fortune to reward achievements that have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind. The Nobel Prize is awarded for achievements in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Peace and Literature since 1901. The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, was founded by the Swedish central bank and has been awarded according to the same principles as the Nobel Prizes since 1969.
